The next meeting of the Virginia Wine Board will be held Wednesday, August 24 at the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Forestry in Charlottesville. Summer Technical Meeting
The Virginia Vineyards Association held the 2011 Summer Technical Meeting on August 10th at Rappahannock Cellars. Thank you to owner John Delmare for hosting the meeting and use of the event space for the morning sessions, and to Vineyard Manager Tom Kelly for his help in organizing the day and letting us stomp around the vineyards for the hands on portion of the program. Virginia Community Colleges Viticulture classes
Several Community Colleges in Virginia are now offering classes in Viticulture and Enology. The most extensive program is at PVCC, please see the post about their schedule. PVCC Viticulture and Enology class schedule
Classes begin this month for Piedmont Virginia Community College certificates in Enology and Viticulture. Class offerings include: Start-Up Vineyard Classes at Monticello Join Gabriele Rausse for this field-oriented experience in the principles and practices of grapevine production. Class begins in August and will continue through the spring and summer of 2012. Custom Crush Class This is a great class for new students or experienced winemakers.
