A question on vine cold hardiness
From Tony Wolf: Question from the field: We saw unusually warm temperatures in January and the early part of February. Forsythia and daffodils are blooming in my back yard. I’m wondering if grapevines have lost cold hardiness and, with cold temperatures forecast for this coming Sunday (12 February), should I be concerned about the potential for cold injury? VDGIF Wild Turkey Management Plan
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF), in cooperation with Virginia Tech’s Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation, recently initiated an effort to develop a Virginia Wild Turkey Management Plan, similar in scope and intent to the existing statewide management plans for black bear and white-tailed deer. Jeanette Smith named VVA Grower of the Year
Jeanette Smith has been named Grower of the Year for 2011. The award was announced by VVA president Bill Tonkins at the Winter Technical Meeting, and presented by Virginia Secretary of Agriculture, Todd Haymore. Since 2005 The Virginia Vineyards Association has been pleased to honor one of its peers with The Grower of The Year Award.
